A Word from Wayne Lane

(one of our community collaborators)

I want to say peace to all my people out there and welcome you to our new home. I am blessed to be able to speak to you in my new position as the President of Inside the Sun.  When I was sitting  in Angola, Louisiana State Prison  for all the years, I never imagined that I would be able to be a part of something so beautiful. I did the time appointed me, 35 years and just finished 17 years on parole.  Through the times, I've seen many challenges, and  was able to endure with the help of family and community support. Now, it is a blessing to be a part of a team that is intent on doing the same thing.  We are clear in our intention. We will provide aid and assistance to formerly incarcerated individuals and those in our community seeking training to get their commercial driver's license. Our program is meant to serve the whole person. For what good is a job for someone who is broken?  So in addition to our job training, we have enlisted the services of medical and mental health professionals to help us provide more than just a job to these candidates.  Our goal is to be able to provide them with tools they can use to navigate the obstacles sure to come.

If you have found your way to this page then you have some inkling of the importance of the work that we are doing.  We fully welcome all contributions (which are tax deductible) that will help us establish a working foundation.  Let me be clear, we will do this work regardless, no matter what it takes, because we believe the words of Fred Hampton when he said "Dare to struggle, dare to win.  If you dare not struggle then you don't deserve to win..."

We dare to win.  And you, just by your presence here, are an inspiration to us.  Thank you for taking the time to spend a moment with us and please check out the rest of the site to see what we are up to and how your contributions will help.

Bless you and have a wonderful day!

Yours In Struggle

Wayne Lane
